| Even Dave Mooney’s first ever hat-trick in senior football
was not enough to prevent Longford from sinking into the First Division after
this thrilling game at Flancare Park. The Town went all out for goals from the
off and should have led before Derry exploited their goallust to sneak one at
the opposite end. Mooney replied before the interval to send the sides in
level. The second half saw the hosts continue as before and they were full
value for their win against a Derry City side with little to play for.
