The renowned 'keeper hung up his gloves at the age of 35, following Galway United's 3rd place finish in Division 1. An old knee problem finally caught up with the ex- Shels netminder, and prevented him from continuing at the top level. After becoming Tony Cousins' assistant at United he signed a playing contract; just in case! Following Cousins' dismissal, the former U21 international signed a short term contract for Bray Wanderers in May 2008.
